Law No 9.933 (1999), amended by Law No. 12.545 (2011)
Provides for the powers of CONMETRO and INMETRO, establishes the Metrological Services Tax, and provides other measures.
Art. 1 All goods sold in Brazil, inputs, final products and services, subject to technical regulation, must comply with the relevant technical regulations in force.
Art. 5 Natural or legal persons, public or private, national or foreign, who operate in the market to provide services or to manufacture, import, install, use, repair, process, monitor, assemble, distribute, store, transport, package or sell goods are obliged to comply with the duties established by this Law and by the normative acts issued by Conmetro and Inmetro, including technical and administrative regulations.
Law No 5.966 of 1973: Institutes the National Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality System, and defines other measures
Art. 1 - The National Metrology, Standardization and Industrial Quality System is established, with the purpose of formulating and executing the national metrology, industrial standardization and quality certification policy for industrial products.
Public or private entities that carry out activities related to metrology, industrial standardization and quality certification of industrial products will be part of the System.
