Specific EMC laws or regulations do not exist in Mexico. The EMC requirements are inside the product related requirements. EMC requirements are listed under the electrical/electronic safety NOMs. Please read this CRF in context with CRF MEX Electric Safety. Hint: EMC requirements are also given for radio equipment. Electronic devices - Safety requirements and test methods Appendix H (Informational) - Description of safety recommendations applicable to electronic equipment H.6 Protection against other hazards H.6.3 Dangers arising from electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields, other ionizing and non-ionizing radiation Electronic equipment and/or system can be designed and manufactured in such a way that electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields and other ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, which are generated by the electronic equipment and/or system, are limited to the degree necessary for its operation, and operated at a safe level. Electronic equipment and/or system may be designed and manufactured in such a way that any emission of ionizing radiation is limited to the extent necessary for its operation and that the effects on persons exposed are zero or reduced to levels where there is no hazard. H.6.4 Electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic disturbances. The equipment and/or system may be designed and manufactured so that it has sufficient immunity against electrical, magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances, to prevent any hazards that may arise. It can also be designed to limit the emission of magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances so that it does not interfere with other equipment and/or systems, which may cause danger. Appendix J (Informational) - General security principles J.2.6 Radiation Injuries to users and maintenance personnel can result from some forms of radiation emitted by the equipment. Examples are acoustic frequencies (sonic), radio frequencies, infrared, ultraviolet and ionizing radiation, and high-intensity and coherent visible light (laser). Examples of measures to reduce these risks are: - Limiting the energy level of potential radiation sources; - Shielding of radiation sources; - The installation of safety switches; - The use of marking to warn users of the danger in cases where exposure to radiation is unavoidable. NOM-003-SCFI-2014, Electrical products-Safety specifications. 5.2 General protection Electrical products must be designed and manufactured in order to meet the objective of this official Mexican standard. To enable consumer protection, the safety of electrical products must address the risks arising from the intended use, taking into account their functionality, including the particular risk conditions of the product itself, and risks arising from external influences on the electrical product itself, taking into account both normal use and conditions of misuse. reasonably foreseeable in terms of what the particular product standard indicates as the absence of unacceptable risk, observing the following requirements: ... d) Hazards arising from electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation; e) Protection against electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic disturbances; ... APPENDIX O (Normative) - DESCRIPTION OF SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS O.6.4 Electrical, magnetic or electromagnetic disturbances The product must be designed and manufactured in such a way that it has sufficient immunity against disturbance electrical, magnetic and electromagnetic, to prevent any danger that may arise. It should also be designed to limit the emission of magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances so that it does not interfere with other products, which may cause danger.
